A lineage, with margins
Each line follows an advisor or teacher connection recorded by the Mathematics Genealogy Project. Earlier connections are not equivalent to modern doctoral supervision. In particular, the Malebranche record describes its link to Leibniz as intellectual heritage, and Lagrange’s record refers to correspondence; these connections use dashed lines.

Ibn Sina is a meaningful point of connection with the history of thought in Iran, rather than an absolute starting point: the source also names teachers before him. Unlisted or unknown advisors mark the limits of the source. These historical attributions are presented as MGP records, not independent historical verification.
